Product Overview
The Kit Leader has proven reliabilty at an affordable price.
The Kit Leader comprise 3 kit options covering almost all residential & agricultural double swing gate dimensions.
The rams are non-reversible and therefore don’t need the inconvenience or expense of an additional electric lock to keep them closed.
Limited Warranty - 3 years on motors, 1 year on other components.
Kit Suitability
The Kit Leader has linear ram (straight arm) motors which mount on brackets (highlighted in yellow below) attached to the pillars.
For optimum leverage and mechanical advantage the motors should be mounted where the A & B measurements are equal as per table below:
Recommended Installation (90° opening)
A + B = C (motor Stroke)
A |
B |
C |

Kit Leader 3TI |
150mm | 150mm | 300mm |
Kit Leader 4TI |
200mm | 200mm | 400mm |
Kit Leader 5TI |
250mm | 250mm | 500mm |
If the ideal scenario of A & B is not achievable, refer to the below table to determine bracket position. (mm)
The D dimension only comes into play when the gate is side hung.
Leader 3TI max D measurement = 150mm
Leader 4TI max D measurement = 200mm
Leader 5TI max D measurement = 225mm
Before purchasing this kit it is important to note the width of your post/pillar and hinge position.
Your post/pillar must be wide enough to fix the bracket so the A & B measurements can be achieved for the motor you require.
How do I tell if I need a left or right hand kit?
The motor is usually mounted on the inside of the property for security. With this in mind view the gates from inside the property looking outwards (the gates will normally, swing toward you). If the hinge appears on the left, you need a left-hand kit; if it's on the right you need a right-hand kit.
Installation Advice
When fitting the gate brackets to a wooden gate, we recommend that you insert stainless steel tubing (just large enough to sleeve the mounting bolt threads and 1mm shorter than the thickness of the wood) through the gate mounting holes. This will prevent over-tightening of the mounting bolts and also avoid the repetitive push/pull on the mounting bolts from damaging the wood - See the instruction manual under the download section on this page for more information.
Gate Stops
These electric gate motors require a physical stop at the end of the opening and closing cycle. Gate Stops provide resistance to the motors so they know they've reached either the open or closed position. Without gate stops the motors will over extend during their operation and the mechanism will eventually fail. When assessing your gate-way it is important to check you can install physical stops in both the closing and opening positions. Common reason's why gate stops cannot be installed are a sloping driveway or the gate is raised significanlty off the ground. If you cannot install something to provide resistance at either end of the motors cycle then you will require a specialised ram with in-built mechanical stops.
